Former Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Teshome Toga and his delegation visited the Zhongyang Zambia Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park for inspection.

On December 5, former Ethiopian Ambassador to China and Secretary-General of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization, Teshome Toga, along with his delegation, visited the Zhongyang Zambia Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park accompanied by Chen Shengde, Chairman of Zhongyang Holding Group. The purpose of this visit was to gain an in-depth understanding of the ecological agricultural model and development situation of the park, as well as to explore opportunities for deepening cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The Zhongyang Zambia Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park is a 3,000-hectare farm successfully acquired in Zambia by Zhongyang Construction Group in response to the national 'Belt and Road' initiative in 2018. This project is not only the first large-scale agricultural project invested by private enterprises from Jiangxi Province overseas but also an important layout for Zhongyang Construction Group in the overseas agricultural field. The park integrates planting, breeding, and processing, mainly growing crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat. It has established stable good seed cooperation relationships with internationally renowned companies Bayer and Syngenta, making a positive contribution to Zambia's food production. Additionally, the park raises over 2,000 high-quality beef cattle and employs more than 600 long-term staff.
Accompanied by Chairman Chen Shengde, the delegation visited various areas of the park including production offices, agricultural machinery equipment areas, planting zones, livestock areas, breeding zones, and grain storage areas to gain a comprehensive understanding of the overall layout and production operations of the park.
During a discussion session, Park Director Shi Guodong provided detailed information on various aspects including overall planning of the park, ecological industry development, scale of planting and livestock farming, agricultural technology levels, application of agricultural machinery equipment as well as current status of crop planting. He pointed out that relying on a scientific management system and innovative technology has led to significant achievements in planting grain crops such as corn with production efficiency and sustainability ranking among industry leaders.
Mr. Teshome Toga expressed great interest in the ecological planning of the park and specifically inquired about the operation modes of irrigation and water conservancy facilities. Chairman Chen Shengde stated that the park adheres to a green development philosophy that emphasizes soil protection during agricultural production while rationally utilizing water resources and maintaining biodiversity to achieve sustainable development goals. He elaborated on water reservoirs, storage tanks, pivot irrigation systems equipped at the park along with water resource management measures while emphasizing the importance of integrated water resource management in enhancing production efficiency and conserving resources.
Mr. Teshome Toga highly praised the comprehensive strength and ecological development philosophy of Zhongyang Zambia Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park. He appreciated Zhongyang Construction Group's innovative spirit and international vision in agriculture. Drawing from recent experiences in agricultural development between Ethiopia and Zambia over recent years he suggested that the park further expand downstream processing industries for agricultural products to extend its industrial chain injecting vitality into local economies while providing broader development space for agricultural cooperation between both countries.
Chairman Chen Shengde expressed gratitude for Mr. Teshome Toga's suggestions stating that Zhongyang Construction Group will actively respond to them. He emphasized that Zhongyang Construction Group will collaborate with leading enterprises in Jiangxi's agricultural industrialization engaging in comprehensive cooperation joint ventures partnerships with domestic and foreign agriculture enterprises focusing on creating overseas demonstration parks for green agriculture digital agriculture technology-driven agriculture striving tirelessly to enhance Jiangxi's overseas agricultural cooperation parks as a new brand.
