On May 23, Wei Xiaokui, Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee, led a delegation of six from the municipal government to visit Ethiopia for a friendly exchange. The delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia and the Addis Ababa municipal government, engaging in in-depth discussions on deepening economic and trade cooperation. Chen Shengde, Chairman of Zhongyang Holding Group, and Long Anliang, Vice President of Zhongyang Construction Group and General Manager of the International Company, accompanied the visit and inspected Zhongyang Construction Group's project office in Ethiopia.

The delegation first visited the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, where they were warmly received by Yang Yihang, Minister Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and Counsellor Xue Wei. Minister Counsellor Yang expressed high appreciation for the contributions made by the Fuzhou municipal government to economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and fully affirmed the quality of projects undertaken by Zhongyang Construction Group in Ethiopia. Secretary Wei Xiaokui sincerely thanked the embassy for its long-standing support to Fuzhou enterprises in Ethiopia and hoped that it would continue to provide care and guidance.

At the Addis Ababa municipal government, Secretary Wei Xiaokui stated during discussions that China and Ethiopia are good brothers who support each other. Over 54 years since establishing diplomatic relations, both sides have always adhered to mutual respect and equality for mutual benefit, deepening friendship and promoting cooperation. Especially since the proposal of jointly building the 'Belt and Road' initiative 11 years ago, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, bilateral relations have developed healthily and stably with deepening political mutual trust, intertwined interests, and connected hearts among people. The breadth of cooperation areas and richness of results lead among China-Africa cooperation efforts, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples.

Secretary Wei Xiaokui further pointed out that Fuzhou is a close partner with Addis Ababa. In recent years, cooperation between both places in economic trade, municipal affairs, etc., has continued to advance with fruitful results. Fuzhou is known as 'the hometown of construction,' with Zhongyang Construction Group being a leading enterprise in Fuzhou's construction industry. It is one of Jiangxi Province's earliest private enterprises providing overseas services; it established an office in Ethiopia in November 2017 and has undertaken projects such as social security buildings and transportation buildings with a total contract amounting to approximately $154 million.

Secretary Wei Xiaokui detailed Fuzhou's development status across various fields including economy, technology, culture, ecology while combining it with basic conditions and advantageous resources of Addis Ababa to forecast potential future cooperation between the two cities. He stated that the municipal government will continue to strongly support Fuzhou enterprises in undertaking business ventures in Ethiopia while investing in local development; he eagerly hopes that Ethiopian counterparts will continue providing more policy support for major project undertakings by Zhongyang Construction Group among other Fuzhou enterprises as well as creating a favorable environment.

Tilahun Worku Robi, Secretary General of Addis Ababa Municipal Government warmly welcomed Fuzhou's delegation upon their visit while expressing sincere gratitude for Secretary Wei Xiaokui’s comprehensive introduction along with cooperative intentions. He stated that Addis Ababa serves as Ethiopia’s capital city as well as Africa’s gateway city housing AU headquarters; it possesses unique developmental conditions while looking forward to further deepening economic exchanges along with investment cooperation between both cities to promote high-quality cooperative outcomes.

After the symposium, Secretary Wei Xiaokui's group also visited Zhongyang Construction Group’s project offices for social security buildings and transportation buildings being constructed in Ethiopia for inspection guidance.

Chen Shengde introduced to the delegation about Zhongyang Construction Group’s development history along with project construction status within Ethiopia. Secretary Wei Xiaokui highly evaluated their efforts along with contributions made under 'Belt & Road' development strategy.

During his inspection visit, Secretary Wei Xiaokui also had cordial exchanges with employees at project offices expressing respect for their hard work overseas. He encouraged builders to continue promoting craftsmanship spirit while establishing quality awareness contributing strength towards 'Belt & Road' construction efforts. Weixiaokui, the Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee, led a delegation to visit Zambia to witness the signing of the cooperation agreement for the Zhongyang Zambia Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park.

Zhongyang Zambia Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Technology Cooperation' with the China-aided Zambia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center.
